It's a "specific learning difficulty", which means it causes problems with certain abilities used for learning, such as reading and writing.
It's estimated that up to 1 in every 10 to 20 people in the UK has some degree of dyslexia.

Service Description
Students should be made to feel content and anxiety-free in school, without difficulties impacting on their self-esteem and motivation to succeed. Specialist literacy tuition is offered to help students reach their full potential through structured, cumulative, multi-sensory lessons, which are tailored to their needs and strengths. Cumulative lessons enable the student to build up on what has previously been taught, to help them to consolidate learning and to develop fluency with a skill. Strategies are also taught which helps an individual to work around difficulties and face tasks confidently using their strengths. Each lesson is 1 hour long and comprise of different areas to help develop literacy skills. Examples include sequencing, memory, motor skills, Phonological awareness, reading, writing and spelling. All activities are fun and multi-sensory and help the student to gain awareness and confidence of the best strategies to use to help them in class.
